Nope, not your computer. There were a bunch of broken links. They should be all fixed now. Sorry about that. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

Chris. Thanks so much for posting what you did.
How have the front caliper brackets (ears) held up? They look very stout. I imagine they are holding up fine. You used mild steel to make them?
I'd be curious to see if something like that could be done with the early steering knuckle.
Thanks.

Love it!
The hard line rear is the only thing that I dislike... That really should have a soft line between the caliper and the hardline. |

Neil, the brackets worked out great. Never a problem at all.
And yes, you could definitely do the same thing with a set of early spindles. I just happened to have had the late spindles so that is what I used.

That was a temporary measure to get the van on the road quicker until I could find the correct soft line. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

Thanks a lot Chris.
It might be beyond my skill set but I'd think
that given all the info and images you, and others have posted, it wouldn't be rocket surgery to make a template then get someone to water cut a couple plates.

This braking kit looks awesome! Aside from the underpowered engine this is definitely an upgrade that should be tops on a Vanagon owners "to do" list.
Couple of questions.
Since you are running a business I would assume that this awesome brake upgrade kit would not be offered as a kit due to possible liability issues?
Would you consider producing some of the specially machined parts and allow the customer to purchase the remaining off the shelf parts?
When machining the stock front rotor down to use as a hub is the machining unique to the rotor or can it be a one size fits all approach? Is there a blueprint or similar drawing available that I could take to a local machinist to have done? |

Chris,
I know this resurrecting an old post but......,
Did you have any measurements for the adapter brackets you made, or do you sell them through the T3 site. I know you spent R&D time so don't want to insult but I just don't have the time or access to the tools to play with machining stuff in the hope that I get it right. I would rather pay for plans or the actual items. The calipers etc are as you say shelf items.
