Hi fellas !!!
Here I come again after a while...
Bringing to you a very special aircooled VW made in Brazil: the "TC" (abbreviation for "Touring Coupe"), with a beautiful fastback roof & rounded body created and manufactured by Karmann-Ghia (that used to be very close to the VW assembly plant at São Bernardo do Campo - SP) from 1970 until 1975.
The powerplant used the traditional 1.600 cc platform with the "plain-refrigerated" type and a pair of Solex 32 carbs mated to a four-speed synchomesh transmission.
There were only 18.000 units made in a five-year production roll, but very few of them survived to the actual days unfortunately due to lack of the poor quality from the body rust-protection and problems with some specific parts of this model.
Here are some pics from the period ads in Brazil:
Today I was happy to have a close look and drive a 1973 customized TC from a friend here - this one uses Porsche steering-wheel and the beautiful 15-inch "Fuchs" wheels on slightly lowered suspensions front & rear that gives a perfect stance on the "Lotus White" paint with all the chrome/aluminum/stainless steel parts - SUPERB !
The interior is simply GORGEOUS, all original except the steering wheel from a 911 Porsche
And you can have two luggage trunks, one is in the front and other at the back !
Some images from the engine, 1600 cc flat-four - quite original with some different air-filters connected to the carburetors:
And this beauty comes with all the original literature from ´73, including the owners manual, the warranty booklet and even the spare keys !
Good news are that the owner took the TC from a trade on another classic car and he will put this on sale. If not sold locally I´ll put it on the classifields section here at The Samba. The car runs marvelously, smooth & firm - gets attention all over the places it goes !
We really want this babe to go to the right garage - maybe you can be the lucky one to have it !!
