This is my first post so please pardon any stupid questions I may pose. I recently bought a 68 beetle that has parts from multiple years on it. The deal came with 2 completely torn down motors and two transmissions/transaxles (not sure on the proper terminology yet, but learning). I think I identified the two motors as 68-69 1500cc type 1 and the other as a 1975 1800cc type 2 but cant figure out the transmissions to save my life. The numbers on the first is #31 #113.301.103 and underneath that is 571004 with no letters. The second is #46 #113.301.103 #0 and underneath that is A050433. If you guys can help me figure out what I got it would help me out a ton! Thanks!

The one with the letter A is from a '71 and later type 1 which has a 4.125 r&p. The other one if it's a swing axle could to be a '63 type 3 unit also with a 4.125 r&p.

Here's some info on VW transmissions...

http://vw.zenseeker.net/Transaxle.htm

Also, in the "Tehnical" section of TheSamba under VIN/Chassis numbers in the "Rear Axle" column.
