I need to the forums and although I played with air-cooled stuff when I was younger I've been out of touch for some time. I'm hoping to get some help to ID this buggy I just bought.
The hardtop says Corsair but I'm not sure that the buggy itself is a Corsair. Also traditionally were the VIN tags / registration purposes it's on non-op in California but I still have to got to CHP.

The buggy body shell is a "California Clipper", same as this one:
It's the same as a Sandwinder, except for the "spoiler" at the back.
Made here in SoCal back in the late 60s/early 70s. _________________ Richard

No VIN's on fiberglass bodies, just the VW chassis it sits on. Behind the seats on the center of the spine, right where the tunnel starts to widen. You should have an inspection plate - an ovoid shaped piece of metal screwed to the top (covers the shifter connection to the transmission). VIN is stamped right next to that. |
