Another great weekend up in Salem for Transporterfest. Shame it rained on show day, but it was great to see my VW friends one last time this year. Special thanks to Karl Bower for helping me fix my window. _________________ -=Rob

The big question of the weekend is how was the Isuzu sleeping arrangement?

Transporterfest by the Numbers:
We had 38 units at the pre-show gathering at Winter Island marine park in Salem, MA. One 66 bus had some brake issues and we made repairs on Thur. and Friday. A few folks canceled, which is OK.
4 of our campers had tents, one slept in an Igloo, one slept in an Isuzu.
Our new overflow in the Ft. Pickering area of the park was very cool and could hold 20 buses next year.
Approximately 30 campers drove on the caravan, which left Winter Island at 8am. Thanks to Mike Hoddinott and Ken Needham for leading the way.
79 vehicles registered for the show, and it rained all day long. THANKS to everyone who made it!
We have a few vehicles that didn't get their registration forms to us. If you happen to still have your yellow registration form, please check it for these numbers in the upper right corner:
#13, #20, #31, #39, #78, #79
All I need from the above are owner name, year and model of vehicle for our records.
We had 25 people participate in the people's choice judging. One ballot was disqualified because the person voted for their own vehicle.
20 winners plaques were awarded. 7 of them still need to be picked up at my shop in Natick, MA. Text me at 508*333.7813 if you are a winner and want to pick up your plaque. Unclaimed plaques with incomplete addresses on the registration form will be held and announced at upcoming T'fests.

Came up from Georgia for the show and despite the weather I was impressed by the turnout and the friendly faces everywhere. Some great campers on display with a smattering of other vehicles. The swap was good but I am sure it would have been better with sunshine. The venue was fantastic and I am sure this show will continue to grow as the years pass.
Here are a few pictures I took while there. I hope to return in the future, and bring my single cab this time.

Joe - It's Mike Hoddinott from Brueggemann's! LOL
How's it going?!
I used the app to help guide a caravan of VW buses I lead every year from our campout in Salem Massachusetts to a show in Brookline. _________________ Mike

Just a few photos of Transporterfest 2018
Once again, a big thanks to Stan for organizing the show. I was unable to make the camping event before the show this year myself, but the weather was excellent, and it was a great show. |
