I have found a little tiny case leak underneath.
I have just finished a top end rebuild, and the leak was not present before!
Maybe increased crank pressure? Maybe thinner cleaner oil?
Could I dap something on, to seal it? What to use? _________________ Jakob |

Before you can dap you have to find out where the leak is coming from, then figure out why, then and only then will you be able to resolve the leak, oh by the way dapping won't work. |

Most leaks look like a case leak, because the oil drips from the low point on the engine.
I have had pretty good success tracking down leaks by the following method:
1) Remove lower tins so you can see more clearly.
2) Remove the fan so there is no air blowing the oil around
3) Spray the engine thoroughly with degreaser and hose it off, allow to dry
4) Put a bottle of UV dye in the oil
5) Run the engine for 2 minutes and shut it off (no more or you'll overheat without the fan)
6) Use a UV flashlight to find the leak. _________________ 1977 Westy, Automatic. Big Valve heads, CS Cam. |
