If it's good enough for Sheriff Longmire, it's good enough for me.

... never liked beer. When I was a kid, I loved NICKLE NIP - all 4 flavors.
Am in Oklahoma and we recently joined the human race - now able to buy "strong beer" as they call it.- and have medical marijuana also =- can't find NICKLE NIP though. _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

Rogue's "Rolling Thunder" 14.0% Russian Imperial Stout. 2017 vintage. Aged 9 months in Rogue Dead Guy Whiskey oak barrels. It came in a 1-liter (34-ounce) resealable swing-top bottle.
I found it to be a truly "Exceptional" beer.

With that vintage fan in the back ground cooling things down, looks like a great day. _________________ '63 Ragtop |

Changing it up again tonight, just to be different. Not too different- it's still an "Exceptional" stout- Obsidian Stout, by Deschutes Brewery. It's been a favorite go-to of mine for years.

Oktoberfesting again tonight, courtesy of a collaborative effort between Sierra Nevada and the world's oldest brewery, Weihenstephen in Germany.
It's not quite the same as the Hofbräuhaus tent at Oktoberfest in Munich Germany, but it is an "Exceptional" beer nonetheless. |

I actually picked up some of this last night... admittedly ..until I noted your post.. never knew it existed.. simply because.. I generally do not shop or look for "Bud" products..
I must state.. I was very pleased at the "marriage" ..
Albeit a bit heavy it is a nice steady smooth American Beer.. ..
Will be great by a fire on a cold night.. and fine cigar. .
Super Copper color..
Thanks for the tip..

Maybe that's part of the brewing process. Sort of analogous to the aging process for kopi luwak coffee and the civets?
(But yeah, it's a hop! Same question, though?) |

Tonight I'm starting off with Rogue Ale's "Chocolate Stout".
It is "Exceptional".
It's only 5.8% ABV, so it's not industrial-strength. It's quite a bit drier than I was expecting. Not as much as a typical Irish Dry Stout, but much closer to that than I was expecting from an American Stout. A surprisingly clean finish. Roasty malt flavor kicking in. And some coffee. But surprisingly creamy. The chocolate is no secret in this one- it's right up front. It's a little too cold right now, so I'm trying to warm it up- there may be more going on here after I get it up to a proper serving temperature.
Rogue also makes a 9.0% ABV "Double Chocolate Stout", I've had that particular Imperial Stout before, and it's even more "Exceptional". |
