Hey All, it's been a while. Wink

Since I don't daily drive my bus any more, I don't have a ton of issues, but I'm having a recurring one lately.
Here goes...
The bus starts up ok, same as always. However, if I hit the gas pedal while the engine is idling, but still cool, it cuts out and sometimes cuts off completely. Once it warms up, everything is fine.

Fuel delivery issue, or something else?

My bus is a 77 Westy, with original 2.0L Type IV, with fuel injection. 262,000 original miles.

Hi Eric, long time no see.
I'd start with a fuel pressure test and watch what it does when you open the throttle. What's the idling pressure?, does it jump when you step on the gas?

since you say you don't drive it much - how old is the fuel?

I cycled through two full tanks in June when I took it to California. The problem has been happening for about the last year.

I should probably add that I have a Pertronix II installed. Forgot I did that a while back.

Maybe spray some choke cleaner down around the flap in the AFM followed by some kind of lube.

have you done a smoke test for vacuum leaks, and also tested the booster to be sure it isn't leaking? Check the TSII to be sure the threads are clean and that the wire is in place.

It's been a while since I've had to test anything on this bus. I'll dive in tomorrow and report back.

Maybe your AAR is leaning things out too much. Maybe not. Just a shot in the dark, but TS2s aren't usually bad at just one temp, ignition systems don't normally cut out at just one temp, fuel pressure isn't bad at just one temp.

But if your AAR is out of whack it will fuck you up when cold.

Just thinking is all. I've been told I'm not good at it, though, so fair warning. Wink
