Well I bought a 60 seamed gate yesterday that was up on the samba for a while. It actually was originally built by my buddy Troy when he still lived up in Boise Idaho. He’s in Austin Texas these days. Around 10 years ago, he sold it to a guy who flew up to Boise one way and drove it all the way back to eastern North Carolina. Then about 4 years ago and a few changes later another guy from NC bought it and that’s who I bought it from.

Plan is to clean it up and enjoy it |
you keep buying the right buses, congrats. _________________ regards

Saaweet! Same year as mine! You'll have to let us know the build month. We are trying to establish the oldest know seam gate. My gates aren't original and my build date is Feb 24th, 1960. If your new ride has a date later than that, and has original gates, it will help to solidify the direction on my resto. Congrats! |
Thanks neighbor!

PK I’m assuming is a Portland delivery code |
Congratulations Skim,
That is a great truck, I have been watching it in the classifieds. Yours is 3 months newer than mine.
Here is the destination code list. If your is really PK, that means it was delivered to Panama, Canal Zone.
UP is Portland.
Here is the summary list for export codes.

Thanks. The search for a confirmed seamed gate older than mid Feb 60, but earlier than March continues. _________________ Greener

Nice Skim. My bus was also delivered to the Portland area, just 3 months before yours. Here is my m-code plate.

You going to keep it with the pressed bumpers? (I think they look great with bullet blinkers & little tail lights) _________________ aka: Evan

Those bumpers are fiberglass ugh but if anything I will replace them with metal ones. Usually I prefer og slash overiders but I may give in to the pressed look on this one. _________________ GFK

Well mine isn't the oldest "seamed gate" DC around, but mine was produced on April 30th, 1959.

Oldest known seamed gate 10/58 with belly pans. Possibly also oldest type 2 with earliest known m code plate as well. Not a Binz, very very early dc possibly binz had a hand in making it. |

Isn’t there a guy in Utah making the canvas for the tilt. I looked all over the classifieds but couldn’t find him. _________________ GFK
