Still goimg through my new to me '87.
I had some oil coming off the starter and collecting in the nooks and crannies of the transmission case. I believe the source of the leak is blow by that leaks out of the connection of the thottle body and the rubber intake boot. The clamp was loose, allowing the oil to drip over time. I realize the blowby is an issue, but my point here is that one of the first things a new owner of one of these vans needs to do is to check all of the band clamps in the intake system. They all need to be tight for the mixture to be right and to keep dirt out. It has solved my drippage, so now all the blowby oil gets burned instead of just some of it! |

I had oil on my started due to the transaxle leaking oil through the flange (CV joint). The flange cap seal was completely off. The atmospheric vent was clogged too. I replaced flange seal, flange cap seal, and unclogged the vent. Problem solved.
You are right. I think its a wise decision to just replace all the vacuum lines + gas lines on the engine. I took the plenum off, replaced throttle body gasket, intake gasket. Very cheap to do all that. _________________ Brandon
