|
|
I am looking into running BRM's on my Lotus white 67 beetle. I currently run Michelin XZX's, 145's on the front with stock beam with cb 2.5 dropped spindles and 165's on the back. No disc brakes. I am considering 4.5 width wheels for these particular tires in the gloss black finish.
Are there good quality BRM's as apposed to lesser quality BRM's? In some pictures, I have noticed casting marks in the shape of circles found in the black areas. Can they be had without these? Included is a picture of the casting marks....
Thanks for your time and input, Mike

Hi Mike,
as far as I know the best reproductions come from Flat4.
These with the casting marks seem to be the BRMīs made by Flat4.
Best detailed and not like cheaper ones from SSP, Cip1.com or JohnBrownWheels.
The size is 5J x 15 with ET5.
Hope this helps a bit.

GoodOldRagtop60;
I thank you for taking the time to answer my question about the BRM wheels. I am trying to find the best quality rims being produced, especially without the casting marks. I have seen some pictures of them without in a gloss black finish. Thank you again,
Mike |

Probably only 1 manufacturer of these wheels today.
Buy a set of polishing wheels from Harbor Freight and polish out the casting marks. Doesn't look that hard to do.
Repaint them flat black etc & enjoy them!

The little circles are found on originals as well as the texture. The flat four BRMs are the only ones ive seen that recreate those original details. I believe the flat four wheels to be the highest quality. I have the Empi version on my bug and the clear coat on the wheels has faded and is starting to peel after 8 years. |

If you are looking for wheels that look like originals, the latest generation from Flat4 are the only ones.I have OG & Flat 4's , all of the other replicas are just sort of BRM shaped. |
