The brand on the tank is RCI, it was purchased online but I don't recall the vendor.
Just an FYI: I don't recommend this tank because we had to have all the seems re-welded. It developed hairline cracks down the center of the welds the first day we drove the car. Also the sending unit fell apart inside the tank almost immediately... I tried to repair it but it failed again in a few months. _________________ Cheers!

I know it's not as Purdy, but my jaz is about the same size. Came from summit, about $125. Roll over flap and check ball. No more stickin the tank for fuel level.

Looks great to me! I guess if you need an accurate fuel level reading, you can use a measuring tape and a sharpie _________________ Cheers!

I modded my 15 gal RCL by adding a Fuel Safe fill plate/with a roll over valve I had as a spare. Been in it 4 years and I have had no leaks. I just think the 15gal is a stretch more like 12gal.

Oldschool5er,
The tank looks good and I'm glad it has been trouble free...
Our tank might have been welded on Superbowl Monday or the Friday before a long weekend? It has been trouble free since the reweld and yes 12-13 gallons is the "real" number, I'm glad the little Ecotec gets good mileage! _________________ Cheers!

It's time to bite the bullet and relocate the radiator. I have been ignoring a small leak for a while now. Really... it was a very small leak, just a slight fog from a pin hole and only when pushing the car hard.
Well that all changed after a hard landing during Prerun @ the Mackenzie's 300 in May. Now it pretty much stream's out of the center lower 3rd of the radiator.
If you have followed the build I'm sure you have read about the choice to put the radiator in it's current location. If you are new to the build my advice is not to mount your radiator at the far back of your car if you plan to drive it hard offroad.
When you are trying to put 10lbs of stuff in a 5lb sack or building a 4 seat water cooled Baja, you have to try things outside the box... That idea didn't work so on to the next chapter!
I called Sean @CBM and Dave @Kartek with my list and boxes should be here in the next few days. Hopefully Chapter 2 of radiator placement is a better outcome than Chapter 1... I will post the progress as it comes together.

Looking forward to see what you do. I’ve been eyeing that class 10 radiator that cbr offers for my project. |

I have had pretty good luck with my radiator over the motor in the wing set up I made. I also have the ac condenser in front of my radiator and have had no problems. I did crack a plastic tank on one radiator but drove it over a year that way again with no problems and I caused the crack.
Good luck and watching to see what you come up with.

Now I just need to find time to work on the car...
Hey Cody, I bet you can't guess what is in the CBR box
Ed, great to hear from you! I got a chance to do the Mojave trail riding shotgun in a Jeep this year but going on one of your adventures is still on the top of my bucket list!
Thanks to Dave at Kartek and Sean at CBM for getting things out to me so quickly! _________________ Cheers!

Out with the old... now I just need to figure out how to mount the new radiator, reconfigure the exhaust and reroute the air cleaner.

I've made some progress on mounting the radiator over the last week.
The goal of this radiator remount is to get the radiator moved forward, up out of harm's way and into better airflow. In order to make this happen the header needed to be replaced with a low profile CBM header and both the intake and exhaust will need to be rerouted.
After removing all the old parts I started looking for the best location to mount the new 31"x10" CBR Class 10 radiator. Once I decided on what I hope will be a better location, I had to come up with a jig to make sure I could keep the top and bottom mounts square and in the proper location. I built the jig out of common 2x4 lumber to allow the use of C-clamps to hold the Kartek radiator mounts in the correct location's. I used a piece of 1 1/2" DOM for the lower mount and some 1" for the upper.
Here are some photos of the 2x4 jig holding things in place...
Here are some photos of the mounts tacked in place...
Here are photos of radiator being test fit before everything gets welded out.
I should have the 2 1/2" exhaust and 3" intake tubing by the weekend so I can continue moving forward. While I'm waiting for parts, I'm going to tear down the frontend and rebush the spindles. _________________ Cheers!

Alan on your front spindles, are you using LR spindles or are you on to something else? I was wondering if you have a part source for them? Mine are holding up it seems but I have not taken them apart either LOL.

Hi Ed,
Yes I am still running the LR spindles. After disassembling the frontend it feels like the needle bearings for the Kingpins are good and it's just the Linkpin bushings that are sloppy. As it turns out... running 33's up front is really hard on the bushings. I only got about 700 miles of prerunning out of the last set. _________________ Cheers!

Made a like progress this weekend...
I tore the frontend down, replaced the linkpin bushings and tacked the exhaust in place. Once I test fit the air cleaner, I will finish exhaust and intake then move on to radiator plumbing. I'm hoping to have the little Baja back on the road in the next few weeks and ready to Prerun Ridgecrest in September.
Here are a few photos of exhaust location.

Getting closer... I'm down to radiator plumbing, wiring, three 1-1/2 tubing connectors and paint at the back of the car. Once I finish the back, I will install the new beam bushings and reassemble the frontend. Hopefully have it ready to make some dust in the next few weeks!
