I accidentally bent my hood chrome trim installing a new windshield (long story). Since then, I've added a vw emblem and a wolfsburg crest in what would be the factory position on an older bug. Does the chrome trim from the earlier beetles fit a late model (i need it to fit around my crest and vw badge)? _________________ Daily driven....Slowly. |

You must trim it back to have it look right- but it will work. Follow the instructions on trimming a strip back for the Wolfsburg crest- but simply cut off more length. _________________

Hi,
the Wolfsburg crest was discontinued in 1963, when Beetles still had long front hoods and no ventilation grille. So, apart fron being too broad, older trim does not fit. All later front hood trim is too long too, because it was built to match the VW badge, but not the crest.
The only trim that would fit is the one from the 2003 Mexican Ultima Edicion, but I donīt think it is available:

My '69 had trim like the '03 beetle. The PO just chopped the trim at the top and stuck the Wolfsburg crest on above the handle.
Was a total hackey car

Enlarge the holes and recurve the strip and an earlier one will fit. Been done many times when folks want the old look on a newer car.
That Ultima crest looks pretty stupid with the underlap and gap. That is NOT the way to do it. _________________

Here's what i ended up with on my old beater. I tested with my old bent up chrome piece, but i think i like it. I'll buy a new strip and do the same.
