Oh shit yeah. This pic speaks volumes. I don't
even need to add the one with the vert rubber latches above this that is A typical of a VW Vert. Torsion rigidity was a concern for sure.

That door detail is amazing. I had no idea they were so different from the standard notch doors. Explains a lot. Thanks for posting.

Agreed on the doors.
Pat, love that you got some shots of the rocker-sill area, as that's definetly different from a "standard" type 3. Shocked
More pics please. Very Happy Cool

I uploaded them to the gallery and edited my previous post.
Added 15 more while I was doing that. Sorry for the bad pics, this was 1995ish before digital cameras and I'm no "photographer". Razz

Very cool, thanks for posting. Was this car was making the show circuit back in the mid 90's or was it a one-time-only event?

Does anyone know of an after sales conversion being done in Australia in the early 1970s. I have bought a 1974 convertible notchback with no history. The doors have no windows, the window slots are neatly welded over and the roll over bar looks to be made from galvanised steel pipe. I don’t think it was a backyard job because I have seen others advertised. All seem to be originally from Perth in Western Australia

Pictures tells the truth. If you can post some pictures of your 'vert Notchback, then, we can know whether the same is a conversion or the real deal.

Thanks

Not surprising, since Type 3 production ended by late 1973...

This sounds more like a conversion that someone (maybe even a company) might have done in the 70's. No idea of who might have been doing it though.
Can you post some pics of it? I'd love to see them. Very Happy

Since the T34 cabrio has been mentioned I thought I would park these images here that I took 2017 at HO Germany.

And more of the T3 cabrio from 2017 in Wolfsburg because we never tire of seeing this car.
