After have owning only a 1974 westy for over 7 years, stumbled upon 2 Things on the local CL and swiped em both up for 3k, both with titles. The yellow 1974 is complete and wasn't running at the time, had to trailer it and give it all new brakes all the way around and get the engine running again (tank cleaned, tune up, other odds and ends). I love the patina, and that's how its going to stay.
The 1974 real Acapulco came with it (guy wouldn't separate). Was complete minus engine. Sold it to a guy in NE. He had sold another one on Barrett-Jackson so i think he was going to do the same with this... quite the project, though.
Was driving the yellow one for a while and it would die intermittently.. ignition tested fine so it looked like the engine tin was in bad shape and rusted. Thinking it was vapor lock, too many holes and ways for air to get through. Took the engine out, replaced tin, cleaned out all the mice bedding (also not helping heat wise), added OEM style exhaust, new clutch, new rubber engine bay seals, other appropriate seals and gaskets, threw it back in and its running better than ever. Had lots of help from Mike from Thing parts with advice and parts!
All put back together!
