I wonder if her name is Rita.
You would have to know a Beatles song to understand the connection. |

I'm not sure how lovely she is. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.”

Which has more horsepower -- the two horses or the Ghia? Assuming the Ghia is a '67 it would have 44 DIN brake hp at 4000 rpm.
One metric horsepower is defined as the power to raise a mass of 75 kilograms (= 165 pounds) against the Earth's gravitational force over a distance of one meter in one second, as shown in the illustration.
Each horse would have to raise 3630 lbs in one second (165 × 44 = 7260 ÷ 2 = 3630) which seems to be asking a lot of a horse that might weigh 1000 pounds. Since a Ghia weighs 1851 lbs, each horse would have to lift approximately two Ghias one meter vertically in one second.
It has been said that two horses pulling together can actually pull three times as much weight as one horse, rather than twice as much as one. Does that mean that working together as a team the two horses effectively would be required to pull 2420 pounds each? (3 is 50% more than 2, and 3630 is 50% more than 2420) I can believe that two 1000 lb horses can lift ~ 2.5 times their weight -- maybe not in the first second but possibly after gaining momentum. |
