Here is my 1954 Panel Van.
I cannot take credit for the build, I bought the car as seen in these pics from Norway.

The factory never built these. A small handful of coachbuilts were built in small quantities by 3 or 4 different companies.

This one is powered by a flat type 3 motor to give a flat floor throughout, which makes the rear useable. Many of these conversions still have the upright motors in them.

I know not everyone will like this, but I love it. The workmanship and detail in it, is superb.

Very nice! I'd drive that proudly! What's under the second access panel up behind the seats? Is that another set of seats?

Storage and access to the battery

I love it!! it's so well executed, especially with the Type 3 engine! So many van/truck conversions are rendered useless because they kept the upright fan.

WOW!

That looks like it could have been factory built by VW.

That rear door fabrication is amazing. I'm gathering that none of that is from a VW factory?

True, not factory.

Looks to me like the rear door was made by splicing together and shortening two early Beetle doors.

Tangential question: in a couple of the short films, the camera either pulled back or zoomed out. In both, though, the background seemed to get bigger and move forward, and not get smaller and recede, as expected. Why is this?

Hi Scott,
The effect is called dolly zoom. As the drone flys backwards, the camera zooms in at the same time.
Alfred Hitchcock was a master of this in his films.

How could you not like that panel ? The thing is pure Bitchin.

My only problem would be, if given the keys to it or the SP2 I'd have to stand there for a couple of minutes and think about it.

Absolutely coolest and cleanest car, van or delivery sedan (dont get mad if I got it wrong) to come out of a coach build. That thing has smooth body lines and just sits so perfect. Only if it could be duplicated and do a modern version would be sooooooo sick!! Very nice brother!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

That is perhaps the nicest one off build and certainly the nicest panel vans I have ever seen. Everything looks like it was designed by the engineering staff at VW and not some guy in a shop. Who was the builder?

I love the SP2 video too. I take it you work in the video field?
