there is no easy way,
if you don't sand then it will be textured
for show cars we remove vents

for drivers we will tape off the paint
and black out that area with a rubberized
truck bed liner .

this is it in paint,
use a spotweld cutter with care, do the panel like any other
(weld, fix, seal, prime, block, paint) panel, then when eveything is ready to
go back together, use a panel adhesive to bond it back in place.

here are some pics of my louver removal...

the spot welds at the firewall, I'm not going to grind these done as they help in reinstalling the louver.

the spot welds under the vents, watch that spot weld cutter..

the piece removed..

After welding up the holes and some filler...

When all is done, I will be using panel adhesive to reinstall the louver

I forgot to mention that I used a right angle drill to get to the spot welds. I bought a right angle drill from harbor frieght that did the job.

sorry for bringing up this old topic but i have a (stupid) question.

If you attach the louver using an adhesive and you ever need to access the area again, how will you remove it?

Sorry to bring up old topic, but what would it hurt if you left out the piece once you remove it? Seems like you would get more air flow. It may weeken things from hood attachment.
