I found this here last week. I just ordered a birth certificate for it. I believe that the case is the original to the car, but there are a lot of 36 hp. parts on it. I have a lot to learn here in the next couple of years, but I'm hoping to have this on the road within 5 years. I hope I don't eat those words.....Enjoy the pictures.

welcome to splits!

when you say restoration, do you mean all correct parts and stock? or just get it back on the road by whatever means necessary?

Looking in your gallery it appears you have some of the important parts but are missing many more. Prepare to shell out $$$ to get what you are missing, or just use incorrect parts.

Is the pan matching?

Pan matches, yes. I'm going to do it right. I know it's going to be expensive. I already told my wife to start working overtime to pay for parts!

this is what I love to hear! With split part prices ever-increasing, it is getting more difficult for people to put their cars together correctly..but I really do believe it is worth it as when you're done you have a car to be proud of and thats quite valuable.

patience is key!

did you get the correct beam with it? Im surprised it is missing, given the pan is original.

did you get any fenders? thats going to be almost impossible to source all four split fenders, but very early oval fenders can be made to look correct pretty easily (do not buy the green reproduction fenders available).

decklid?

seats?

I got the fenders. They are rough, but they are there. Yea, for whatever reason. The beam was changed out.... no clue why. The tranny isn't correct either. It's out of an oval. I have all the seats. The decklid and rear apron are off an oval as I think it was rear ended at some point.

What's the issue with the green repro fenders? And what about the new rear split fenders being produced - they look amazing!

Have you compared the green front fenders to original split fenders? I would not use them on any of my cars. But, I do use the green metal on tons of bus projects!!

the rears look amazing, but I have not compared one to a split rear fender personally. Also very expensive after shipping.

Any way to get a set beside each other to do a comparison to see the differences?

if you have them, fix them. You're very lucky to have all four, most split owners are not so fortunate.

Great car! It will be a nice project and it looks like you already have some of the elusive split bug parts... searching and especially finding them is also fun, maybe the best thing during restoration.

Did you find it in North Dakota??

'50 is a great year - I would not be too concerned about not having all original parts, especially on the body - go with what you can find now and move on.... then continue your search for the correct parts. That'll keep you interested, down the road.
My early '55 came with lotza' incorrect parts on it, that i'll keep on the car. I love all the incorrect split parts used, since that's what the PO had - very resourceful - beautiful round horn grill front fenders, split pass seat, split steering wheel, wiper motor... shift knob - i'll use & enjoy those incorrect parts all day long.

I recently received the birth certificate to verify everything matches. Pastel green, August 9 delivery to austria.

Pretty happy with what I'm starting with. Should be a fun project!

That's fantastic JoelH; you're off to a great start. Best luck with it. I think you'll be happy with the results. I'm pretty sure I know those you're working with and can assure you, it'll be worth it when you get to the finish line.
Are you doing a build thread following this post as I'll guess? Question
Do keep us informed and chime in if you're looking for input and/or parts...
You're fortunate the BC lists the OG color; mine doesn't.

Thats fantastic! I love these pastellgreen splits from 1949 to 1950 very much. Don't forget about the wheel colour L16, the paint code can be delivered from Glasurit. Both colours L11 pastelgreen and L16 lightgreen are provided by Glasurit and fit absolutely the original paint. Knowing this you don't have to make further investigations or compromises.

All best for your project!
