Last weekend I installed the new water pump
Then this week I replaced the high pressure oil switch because the buzzer and LED's were coming on at cruise. That turned out to be an easy fix at $11.
Next, I'm going to see about doing something to doll this blemish up a bit without spending too much money

Well, I'm just about done fixing up Tom's Vanagon for his family. Here's a few pics
The side damage was fixed
I replaced a missing front bumper strip
I replaced a broken rear bumper end cap
About the only thing left is another wash and interior cleaning. Tom's granddaughter will be taking the train down from LA on Sunday to drive it back.

It makes me feel good. Money in the bank doesn’t. I just hope what I have done for them helps. I’d love to end this thread with pics of Toms kids using the Vanagon for a nice trip to Yosemite _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

Great work aeromech
I never liked the boxy look of Vanagons , but I have to admit, they have grown on me over the decades. I point them out to my wife all the time now. That blue one is real pretty. Such a nice color.
I hope Tom's great grandkids get to ride around in it. _________________ ~Kevin

Please tell, how did you get the crease out? Did you do the metal work yourself?
The car looks good. Is it a total repaint? I love that color Wolfram grey _________________ Al Brase

Completing the circle
So yesterday, Tom's granddaughter Kayla arrived by train and took delivery of the Vanagon.

Righteous, my friend. I hope we get to see pictures of it on a ski trip some day.

Tom was a great guy in many ways. As I approach 63, more and more of my friends will begin dropping off. The race is to see who lives the longest. The prize you get is all your friends are dead. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

On a happier note I pulled my parking brake today and immediately thought of Tom, if it wasn't for the new bushing he shared with me I'd have to make sure it wasn't going to pop loose, thanks to his generosity my bus stays where I leave it first try every time, a small gift that keeps on giving years later!
