Sounds like bad wiring. Burning wire can be mistaken for automotive smell. |

You've got a playful poltergeist. You can still reason with them not to wake you by knocking stuff off dressers. |

Well, you just HAVE to go and investigate the basement with a candle that blows out just after the door slams behind you and you hear a scratching in the dark corner. The former owner probably kept mental patients in the basement and experimented on them. Their tormented spirits are trotting around in the house now pissing everyone off. How does the dog react? Is it like normal or is it a bit subdued and 'clingy' or does it go off happily on it's own and snooze etc?
I live in a 1903 house that's pretty big, basement etc, stables and barn... sometimes I feel observed, but never in a bad way. Just recently I came into the house and definitely heard something move in the kitchen, like someone put the top on a pot. I thought maybe my cat got in, but nope. No-one at all in the house and all the doors and windows locked, cat outside, rest of family away. It was like I caught something by surprise because I normally come in a different door. A little later I was cooking and felt observed, but as I say it wasn't bad and when I'm hungry, things like that can fuck off until I've eaten. _________________ 1973 1303 with AB-motor - sporadic

Funny thing, we aren't at all freaked out or frightened by our homes strange happenings.
As younger people, we were raised very Conservative Christians and were taught quite simply that ghosts weren't real and were indeed evil spirits, plain and simple.
We are now older and maybe wiser?
We've had many life experiences and as a result have moved away from the extreme conservative christianity we were raised up under.
There is definitely something happening in our house.
It hasn't made any moves to harm us and we find the experiences almost "charming". They make good stories to tell to family and friends.
My eldest daughter, pushing 40, tells us simply that "ghosts aren't real Dad!" She hasn't an explanation for what is happening and she knows (hopefully) that we aren't nuts or senile.
I respond to her not real comments by telling her the latest odd story at the house.

He's not posted on this thread in a week. I'd say he's been pulled out of the bed down into the cellar and is being eaten alive by a Wendigo. Either that or he's having the time of his life with a succubus. _________________ 1973 1303 with AB-motor - sporadic

There you go - perfect attitude to have. As mentioned previously, we "welcomed" our soul into our home, even though it had already been here before we moved in. Over the years the sightings and happenings became less and less, from that particular soul. |

Scary stuff go bump, not what you think. Probably an intersection of polarity lines locally.
My current digs are located in a lightning strike zone, I love it.
Every winter the yard gets a smattering of strikes and burn holes in the ground.
I’m thinking clay soils with a lot of magnetic properties, trees and structures never get hit.
Neighbors complain about constant settling of house during the winter.
My suggestion is walk around with a compass and check for unusual needle activity.
21 Grams doesn’t seem like much on the Newtonian side of things, but when E=MC2 was conceived M=0.

We regularly hear voices and music at our house at all hours of the day and night with no one there. Even voices in strange languages.
We live across the street from AM radio towers, the last few years it's been Russian radio, before that, Spanish, Sports, oldies. Sound comes out of the furnace ducts, every now and again I have to go downstairs and listen for where it is the loudest and then push on the ducting...somewhere it's touching just enough to act like a speaker, and the sound is carried through the ducts. |

But keeping in line with the thread, several years ago IIRC, our next door neighbor lady passed away on the living room couch. Seconds before, she had called out to her visiting mother who was in the kitchen, "Mom, come here you have to see this." Mother heard her, came into the living room and found her there. |

That's 2 weeks gone by now. Definitely something up. I'm not one for wild speculation but if I had to express my opinion (I do) I'd guess that a gaping portal to hell has opened in the house and it's spitting out all flavour of demons all over the carpet and they're probably wrecking the place. Time to send Buffy the Vampire Slayer over to Daves. _________________ 1973 1303 with AB-motor - sporadic

Could be. City records should have a death certificate and where he was interred. How many owners before your previous owner? And don't rule out nearby properties, including yours, that may have interred residents. Our guest was only that in the house - a "guest". We figured out it was a resident of the house that was a mentally ill person - our house was a halfway house for men back in the '70's. |
