i have one of jamie's front hitches. one of this nice features is that it uses the towing eyes as the attachment points, so no drilling is required. it can be removed and installed with no modifications of any kind.
i have a bike rack like the one in funken's photo, works great. i made a fixture to carry my honda ct-70 on the front, but it is pretty heavy and drops the front end too much. _________________ SL |

Looks nice!
I'd be hesitant to hook a ball in it and move anything though... looks like a class 3 hitch hooked up to two really thin bolts!

Hey Guys,
We made our first pull today and everything went great. All the welds held good. The Bus tracked excellent. In fact it was hard to tell it was back there if it wasn't for the rear view camera.
The bolted on set up is great for a bike rack but I wouldn't dare try to pull the Bus at 60 mph without it welded and bolted.

We used the new wireless tow lights and they were bright.
You plug the transmitter into the normal 3 prong plug at the hitch and it sends the signal to the lights wireless.

We pulled it to Tampa Bay to have AC installed in it.
There is a guy over there called Gilmore Enterprises who has designed a system that is very efficient. Uses less than a 1/2 horse for the compressor.
Quiet fans. 35 degress at the vents. He`adds two vents under the dash and uses the two factory fresh air vents.
There is a article coming out in Hot VW's on the same installation in May.
Be sure to check it out.

that is what it is designed for, not for moving the bus. just a place to attach a carrier of some sort. many different varieties of carriers are now made for this sort of attachment. _________________ SL

Here's what goes on the back porch.
I had a picture of our Harley riding on the back porch but I guess the boss thought it wasn't newsworthy.
Go here to check it out: http://johnchurn.250free.com/harleyli.jpg

Yes, he does. I recently got one for a 1978 pickup. _________________ John

Who is this Jamie you speak of, and do you know if these are still being made? All the links I click of give me a 404. |

Years ago I installed a front hitch on my F150. It made moving my boat around into tight places much easier. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum
