My dune buggy was missing the seal that goes over the camel hump in front where the body meets the pan. I have a little bit of a gap there and I'm not planning on unbolting the body but I would like to seal it.
Any suggestions as for what product would be in durable yet flexible sealant in that little Gap

Silicone RTV....
Small size....
Or large size...
Comes in white, black and clear and some other colors... Bonds well to clean surface and remains flexible... Several brands and different types for almost any application... Paint section of hardware or big box store...

I would use windshield urethane. Sticks better, seals better, & tough as nails (but still flexible).
Just make sure you have some lacquer thinner for cleanup, & use gloves. _________________ ~ Paul

I used to seal mine with either a silicone based material or a Mastic like windshield material. That all ended rather abruptly when I had to take a body off the chassis for chassis repairs. Spent hours cutting it, cleaning it up again, and suffered slight damage to the body.
I know, "I will never remove this body again". But when the owner strips the torsion splines in the rear torsion housing, the only way to repair it is to strip the chassis down bare and do it.
I now only use the stock VW pan seal on the sides. For the front and rear, I use the foam tape that fill the gap between 1/8 inch and 3/4 inch. At the 4 meeting points is the only place I use sealer, and very little.
You never know what the future holds, so try to make it more maintenance friendly. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

I used foam weatherstrip to act as a backer and then silicone. Urethane is great, BUT very hard to get apart. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

You use this method with the body already installed or while putting the body on? Did you just tuck the weather stripping to the Gap? |

This was a new Berrien body. I had done the regular seal down the side, but was totally bummed about the fit on the front and rear. The rear was quite a bit of fabrication and was done before setting the body. The front was more of a gap than I was commfortable willing with just sealer, so I jammed some weatherstrip in the gap to provide a backing and then caulked inside and out . _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.
