I'm looking for suggestions on what might cause erratic behavior in windshield wipers of a 2002 Eurovan.
Here are the details:
Hi and Low speed will not park correctly, when you turn them off they just park mid-wipe.
Intermittent does seem to park correctly. As a test, we pulled the relay #99 on the top left of the fuse panel which disabled intermittent mode but made no other changes.
Sometimes the wipers, when in Hi or Low mode will gitter erratically.
Does anyone know what controls windshield wiper position? Is there a position encoder in the wiper motor? Or maybe other relays? Thank you! |

The gear in the motor might be cracked & slipping on the shaft or some of the teeth might be stripped. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

And the answer is....
There is a position encoder in the wiper motor, ours had failed (melted/snapped). Solution: replace wiper motor.
