|
|
I am looking to replace the armrests in my 67 since they are missing the chrome band. I have noticed two versions out there on the market and I can't see the quality between the two. It looks like there is the $20 per side types and then there is the $40 -$50 per side types. Anyone know what the differences are and who to buy them from? Thanks, Mike |

I sourced very nice reproduction arm rests from SoCal Imports for my '63 Beetle...pretty much identical to the originals.

Have you checked Wolfsburg West?
http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/wolfsburg_new/interior/door_panel/arm_rest.cfm
I’ve found everything/anything that I’ve sourced from them to be not only top notch quality, but also competitively priced. And, their website is comprehensive, informative, and easy to navigate....and their customer service is excellent. _________________ “Tinker Toy” 1967 Savannah Beige Beetle Sedan...........Mostly Original Survivor

Was the original "chrome" strip actual metal, or was it the chromed plastic? Same question for the re-pop.
The plastic tends to yellow if exposed to UV. |

I should've said identical "looking". The original trim was a polished aluminum extrusion held in place by clips molded into the foam. The repop's trim is that 'chrome' plastic stuff.
If it doesn't absolutely have to be OEM, these aftermarket pieces are a good substitute. Most vendors are probably selling the same part...I remember them being around $40/ea. I installed a pair several years ago and they're still looking like new. _________________ '63 Ragtop (current)
