I am using a pressure bleeder on a dry newly assembled brake system. when applying pressure to the system via the master cylinder cap hook up I am very slowly losing pressure. I apparently have a leak some where behind the drums. as all the outer line fitting are not leaking. I am guessing the slave cylinders or lines are not air tight. after I pull a drum how do I stabilize the shoes so I can pressure test the cylinders and lines? thanks

You can adjust the shoes so they are as tight as you can get them, prior to bleeding. That will help take up slack initially

To pressurize the system with the drum off you'll have to remove the shoes and put a C clamp on the pistons to keep them in the cylinder.

And you don't see fluid making a mess somewhere?

Possible your pressure bleeder or its connection is leaking. Adding fluid will find the leak in your brakes if there is one.

In a pinch you could likely weld it with soldering iron type heat and filler rod of the correct material. Pretty standard procedure in body shops these days. Are you using a 1967 type reservoir? Repops are pretty easily available.

Curious, did you talk about the conversion to dual circuit elsewhere? If not, what parts did you use? This is one upgrade that is quite worthwhile. I probably will do it to my 56.

Ratchet strap should work well, and not require removal of the shoes.
