$100/hub cap for repro, believe it. Hub cap inflation is a whine in and of itself these days.
On the WW website the cheapest chrome polished cap is $125! And the German ones at that amount are consistently sold out so people are buying them at that amount.
What used to be a $20 part and an afterthought is now a costly investment.
Go commercial and you won't have to worry as much. |

Unless you want nice original paint commercial caps, then we back at around $100 each from what I have seen people asking.

Well shit... I guess I gotta remove that $5 sticker tag from my caps for the swap.
Just this morning I read the guys buyer/seller feedback (at least the last page of the 11) and it all seemed positive. Actually spent quite a bit with the guy and had a good email exchange.
A set of 4 with caps from WW (currently out of stock) run $1100ish with shipping + tax. A set of 5 with caps shipped to me from Kaefer is still cheaper @ $970ish.

I just had a set of original caps rechromed for less than that. I guess that's the way to go these days.
There should no way I'm paying $100 for a part that could go flying if a clip breaks.
Better not let the kids know about the value of hubcaps, might resurrect hubcap stealing.

You guys should think about importing them. I'd guess you get to take the UK VAT off for exports to the states and apply your own local taxes?

Selling NOS caps at a swap for $5? sign me up for all of them. In fact, I will pay $100 each for as many near mint NOS caps as you can find. By NOS, I mean New, Old and Stock. Hell, I will pay $100 each for mint used ones with original paint logos. 
I have been collecting hubcaps for decades, and used ones are virtually all in poor condition. I have been trying to put together a set of four mint used caps with original paint black logos for over ten years, and I am only up to 2 caps. I will pay good money for them, but they are super hard to find.
Most beat up dented, rust-pitted, curb-rolled, caps sell for $5 or less at swaps. Nice caps sell for more, but not even $50 unless they are near mint. So the $5 caps are probably close to market price. I don't find much competition in the chrome hubcap market at swap meets. Original painted caps are a different story.

Probably the biggest reason those NEW caps are so expensive is the licensing fee paid to VAG.
