I have a NOS Pierburg fuel pump like this
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2171875
I wonder if there is a fuel filter in this type of pump (Pierburg, Brosol, Bocar).
Of course you can't open these pumps but has anyone ever opened a worn pump?
Thanks. _________________ VW Bug Oval 1953

If it has a screw on the top it has a screen inside. Personally would not call it a filter. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

I've taken apart a couple of similar pumps, which had no removable top. There was no
filter inside. I'm pretty sure that all of the original equipment pumps on carbed VW's all
had filters accessible by removing the top, as shown in Fig. 4-4 of the Fuel System chapter
of the 70-79 Type 1 Bentley manual. VW may have switched to filterless pumps for
replacement part purposes.
Here's a very nice BCD-brand (Italian) pump with a filter: https://www.paruzzi.com/uk/volkswagen/engine/fuel-pumps-fuel-lines/4541/
I'm pretty sure that Pierburg had (and maybe still do have) this same pump in their catalog. _________________ '67 bug: seized by the authorities

OK, thanks.
Yes, the Pierburg pump (like the BCD) with a filter is still available : Pierburg 7.02242.43.0
