Yesterday the Westerner hauled some pumpkins for some Halloween fun with clients.
Today, I loaned it to a friend whose work is doing a Trunk or Treat thing. They are dressing up as Scooby Doo characters and thought it was fitting. I decided to forgo my usual protestations that a Westerner was decidedly NOT the Mystery Machine and let them use it. I asked for a couple pics to share with y'all.

Dateline Wild Westerner Club
I received a request for Certification Decals for two Wild Westerners from a gentleman in Germany .
Running the serial numbers :
One is the Wild Westerner that Matt from Utah bought in Alaska and sold to an unknown person in California . It is now in Germany.
The second was purchased from the original owner when new from Las Cruces , New Mexico . It was a new find that we did not have information on it is now in Germany.
Hats off to Andre for seeing the passion and the will to keep these critters alive .
Those of you that have not requested decals please do so. It helps in the value as well as notify s everyone that it is a special edition.

Paint request...
Even though it’s been a few years since we sold our WW, we still miss it. I’ve gotten pretty heavy into die cast car customizations, and have decided to paint a 1:18 scale bus to the WW theme. . Does anyone have some “spare” paint from a recent re-paint? Or know anyone else that may have a couple ozs of each color available?
If they do, I’ll trade a HW size car painted as a WW in exchange.

Gosh People where is everybody?
On samba classifieds one ad has three Wild Westerners for sale in Santa Paula'
Please contact Mr Finnagin and ask him to contact me so we can register the trio.
Also I found the elusive Wild Westerner in Cottage Grove, Oregon for sale on a samba ad. Please contact that seller as well.
My internet is in slo-mo until the 16th so emails are difficult.
This means we almost have 30 in California with only 22 registered with our club.
The West Coast needs to tighten up !
Do we have any Wild Westerners currently in the restoration process ?
Do we have any buyers looking ?

Ha ha, well that darn pink foamy soap definitely stained my hands!
But Bill you aren't too far off...
She wanted to wait to make it "Facebook Official" until she could tell her mom in person, but I think it is safe enough to say here, that the Bus' mission was to drive tonight on a date, where at the end I successfully proposed! She still needs to warm up to the Westerner a bit, (she had told me that she likes the '78 better, because it is still fun and cool but doesn't stand out as much as the bright green bus...) but I decided that it was legitimately the nicest vehicle I own... The old Golf is all beat up, the 'Westy is kinda loud, and the Thing doesn't have a roof (and it was fairly chilly tonight). She does say that she thinks it is cool how much I like it, so I don't think it'll go anywhere anytime soon. I mentioned how it could hold 6 kids if needed, more than any other of the VWs. Ha ha!

Thanks! I'm pretty excited!
She's a bit of an introvert, so the outlandish green makes the WW a bit much for her sometimes. But it did play limo a couple years ago for one of my foster sons and his prom date, so it could probably do that again.
I've pointed out that between my 4 and her one car, it's the one that can haul around a bunch of foster kids at once. (In case you haven't noticed, that is something that is pretty important to the both of us.)
The '78 is a Westy and therefore has a bed, so it'd probably win out for honeymoon duty.

| Hey guys the WW for sale in Sacramento I believe is the one that was sold in Murrieta Calif . Not too many automatics with factory air. the guy is trying to flip it. Erik was asking $6000 for it. Just a heads up . Pictures look good but it is kind of rough up close. I know I looked at it. |

It takes a while to connect the dots these days. I believe this was the ad I saw several weeks ago during the camp fire . I reached out on several occasions to try and contact the owner and try to get these Wild Westerners registered with no response. The Wild Westerner that looks like it has been painted with a roller a darker green was reported by I want to say Mr Hamilton maybe 5 years ago and was located just across the state line in California from Reno. I remember that one distinctly . I would certainly appreciate if someone could make contact and lets these Wild Westerners registered.

In the past 6 months we have had 7 unregistered Wild Westerners show up for sale. 2 are now registered and the other 5 located mostly in California have been sent emails offering free certification decals with no response . I'm not sure why. Of the Wild Westerners registered with our club at least 50 percent have provided a picture of the m'code plate and free certification decals have been issued.
The good news is these critters are still popping up on a regular basis and maybe someday we will find an actual number produced. We have located enough to have at least one in every state so if anyone wants to own a Wild Westerner and represent their state , holler back and we will try and assist you in getting one.
So far we have not had any changes to our count since November 30th therefore I will not post the master list at the end of the month.

Finally got the new Freeway Flyer transmission installed in December and took my WW for a cruise around town. Drives great and is surprisingly peppy when I stomp on the gas.
