Hello,
I know I should search for topics, but cant find it.
I am sure someone opened their channels to put new bottom plates.
Had anyone pictures or topics how they did that?

Once your have your heater channels open, I would recommend welding in some metal to stiffen your chassis. You'll be amazed how much it will change (improve) your ride quality.

Cheers,

Paul

I used a spot weld drill bit slowly and methodically worked my way along. I think it was a 6mm bit

I then used a grinder with a flap wheel to grind away the metal as you might be able to see here...

But are they just spotwelded to each other?
Why did you use the grinder with a slap wheel (just curious, learning) Smile

Spot weld drill bit to get 90% of the weld off and then just run the flap wheel over the last thin metal so I didn’t eat into the metal below

I use this typ of spot weld drill when i want to save the metal below.
Then i grind of the small spot that is left, then i don´t get any damage on the bottom metal.

Then I screw the new bottom plates on the chassie, just a little loose.
Lift on the body and fit in everything.
Then I tighten all the bolts and weld the bottom plates on the body.
Then I unload the body and weld it properly.

Make sure the weld nuts are secure, heard of many popping loose. Maybe tack them on inside. I had some from Gerson that strip out around 10 lbs of torque. Maybe torque each to spec before welding.
