Just picked this '72 Chianti Red truck up from Sweden; the company logos on the side are from a company that's still in business, so I need to do some digging about the history of this thing. It's had some red primer put over old repairs; the eventual plan is to make the repairs better and strip the primer off/blend some paint. I'll also polish the original paint, etc.
For now, the plan is to turn it into a reliable driver with some M+S tyres on the stock rims. Planning to take it to a few European shows to sell signed copies of my new book - Patina Volkswagens - which is published Feb 2019.

Remarkably intact and solid considering what most of that vintage look like around there, nice find! _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Wow! Very fun find!
Possibly an odd thing to catch my eye, though it stuck out to me like the next great thing. - The seat belt retractors. I am guessing those are not stock VW for '72? Unless perhaps those are a single cab only thing?
I'd be very interested in more information on those.
I also like that red! I'll have to look up what paint code that is. _________________ Few will understand the passion and majesty, among the nuts and grease.

I also have a ‘76 VW Polo from Sweden at the moment and it has the exact same seat belts; retractable but with no buckle (the webbing clips into the clasp). I do know that Sweden was ahead of most countries when it came to safety, but can’t be 100% if they are original.
The paint code for Chianti red is L31H 👍🏻 |

Maybe US Spec ones did; Europe got poverty spec on a lot of things, like the fixed front vent windows. |

Cheers; the plan is to blast and paint the wheels and hubcaps in the correct L91 satin silver. Rare to see post ‘71 Bay commercials with the correct painted hubcaps! |

Early Type 2 single cabs often had dual storage compartment doors, but these are rarer on later T2b models. It was always an option, however. M-Code 071.
Way cool find, by the way. I love the patina. _________________ John
