The underside is a different story. Starter looks fried.

With the water that high, it has went through the exhaust and into the heads, then what ever cylinder valve was open, into the cylinder. It looks like the corrosin has also started on the distributer body. Most likely it went up through the weep hole and around the clutch/PP area. The flywheel is likely rusted close to what the starter is.
What a shame. But it is still savable. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

Not as bad as the one we are working on but you got to it sooner than we did. You need to take the transmission and engine apart before the damage gets worse like joe said. The salt just keeps eating away at the parts make sure you check all the wiring that salt just eats up the copper. It looks like a lot of work but the thing is repairable . The inside of the transmission and the engine just flakes away internally. |

Most definitely, but it has to be taken apart, the salt washed off and neutralized.
Then all the mechanical parts need to be rebuilt.
It needs a total rebuild. _________________ Glenn

What about insurance?
Reading what I have about the area, it may take a insurance company forever to respond to your claim (if you have one they will compensate for), I would not wait on them or it will end up a total loss.
Document, document, document as you go with pictures if you can declare a claim. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

From the one we are restoring this is what we replaced
all wheel bearings
all brake parts
the complete transmission
everything on the engine we only used the sheetmetal and the intake
the axles ball joints and tie rods
starter generator
everything electrical gas tank
most of the wiring
all the interior the seat springs were even gone
and a complete restore on the body and frame
basically everything. The person that owned the thing learned how to drive on this car and wanted it restored. dont give up your thing is still worth repairing they dont make them anymore.

Don't overlook the front suspension. Water can get into the beam tubes and has a hard time getting out ... then torsion springs rust inside the arms. Pull the arms and clean out the beam, then let it dry a couple days before putting it back together with fresh grease. _________________ Brian
