Stu..you really need a good hand pump in your kit for bikes and car.
The cheap compressors are all junk, I keep one in my travel cars but never use them except emergencies. I figure they are good for about 10 uses
My Greenworks 40V MAX portable is the home tool.

I used to have a sweet one but passed it along to an emerging mechanic who happened to be my Girlfriend at the times twin sister. She deserved to have SOMETHING to inflate her Toyota’s tires with, she had nothing. I’ll find another one eventually. Likely very soon, because that was a stupid experience and totally avoidable. Survived though!
Thanks for the comments on the bike mount! I just did the Angeles Crest Highway and it was absolutely perfect! 30 miles up and back down and a story and pics to boot! Stay tuned....

That’s my bike from agony ride in my signature. I wouldn’t have known the difference but it’s been very reliable and I look forward to wearing it out and maintaining it who’s coming next year?

YES. You missed it a few pages back. The sooner the van goes away the better! I got a life to live and the van is the biggest distractions from my actual goals. Just making the most of these sweet sweet lemons it gave me for the next few months...

So, the journey continues...
Back in the saddle and moving around quite a bit....finally settled in San Diego to focus on and finish this fun:

But first...
Got my bike finished and took that and the van up Angeles crest to drive the highway, only to find they had just closed the top for the season due to ice and I can only go about 30 miles in. No bother, got some great pics anyways!
First stop was in Westlake Village at Wins Wheels to have my moms cousin tune up my bike after shipping destroyed it...

Then with all my power I waddled the van up into Griffith park amongst the tourists and snapped a quick pick with the Hollywood sign. I may go back to hike out to the sign while I’m in town, seemed worth it to me!
Stop for more animal style awesomeness, though this time no 30 somethings asking if wanted their number. Phew! 😅
And head out towards north east of Burbank to roll up the coveted Angeles crest highway, one of the most dangerous roads in the area for sure. Almost rolled the van coming back down the second time but that’s getting ahead of myself....

Rallied up the hill at a blistering 35-40 mph most of the way....made it to the top at exactly dark. One of my favorite times of day, while the sky has color but all earth bound objects are black shadows. So beautiful!
Bit of off lighting, but this is what I meant about the colored sky with black shadow stuff...:
So I pull up to this sign...
Without knowing one person here.
A few minutes later we are now aquatinted and I offered to come up the following week to volunteer for a men’s group coming in. Free food from camp? Who can say no to that!?!
Woke up to snowy icy cold.
Rethinking volunteering...
Naw...let’s go for it!
I got snow chains and I like the snow anyways. So sure, I’ll be there. (Making sure my chains were working BEFORE needing them...great idea because apparently I broke a link last time I used them on my bus. Fixed now!)
Go to leave and the van won’t start.
Really? 3000 miles perfect and suddenly a no start? After 25 minutes of cranking and finally a nudge firmly to lean on the afm wiper with my finger while cranking and it started. Funky. Didn’t shut it off till I got to Rialto...and didn’t think a thing of it.
Till it shut off on me completely merging onto the freeway with me thinking I was on fire with the fuel smell.
Three days later I thought I had solved it...
Not so much.
I did fix a few little things in the mean time while hunting around...
Kinked fuel line:
Tested everything and despite it being within spec, at full throttle or under a heavy load my ts2 was flooding out my engine! Long explanation but bypassing and then replacing it solved the problem. She’s happy again, new one installed and spares still in hand. Not a huge deal!
Celebrate with EPIC burrito at this place in Miramar area:
And go grab breakfast the next day with Frank and Corkys diner...how fun is that!

Yeah, it rained for a week when I flew back in from Seattle. You think sports is fun to watch? Go watch anyone from California drive in rain. never seen so many hilarious moments...
Back up at camp (Angeles Crest Christian Camp) I try to take a pic of my van and it got photobombed...
But I came back later for a retake
Had a great time there and will likely be back...if not for the food, or the people, for the mechanical stuff that needs repair.
Went out and took some night pics and waiting to get copies from the junior photographer next time I see him 
Heading back to San Diego...this was in a hurry to get down the hill before closing time for a delivery I was making. Nearly rolled the van when my rear inside tire came off the ground under a hard brake and turn moment...I got lucky. Really really lucky.
Then I got this shot and kept going:
Note the LA downtown looks like it’s on fire. Cool 😎

So decided to rotate my tires since my shot front tie rods have just about shredded my front tires in 8k miles. Found out why my brakes stink... can you see why?
And I was NOT under the vehicle so I didn’t worry about the normal jack stand. Just inspecting and rotating tires! (These pics are for a reference later personally)
And my rear spacers for later reference:

Also grabbed a O2 sensor LM2 tester from Gary, who was kind enough to allow me to use his.
Installed the sensor where the facility sensor goes:
Then ran the wiring up to my battery to power the tool and Heated O2 sensor:
Which also allowed me to watch it while driving.
Got my idle to 14.7, then 2500-3500 rpms to about 13.5, then full load in gear to 10.5 at the most rich but general acceleration around 11-12. Sorta happy with results. Have a second AFM to tweak and I may lighten it to 12 under full load, but for now at least I won’t be burning anything up. No vacuum leaks, timing is at 38-40 degrees at FULL advance, and the afm is dialed in. It’s a happy motor!
Except when you try to cold start it at 6k feet. 👿
Bypassed a leaking CSV, replaced and haven’t reinstalled. But my ts2 still seems to flood out the engine at cold start (under 40 degrees Fahrenheit) because if I bypass it I can warm it then plug the sensor back in and it works fine. Weird!? Gotta spend some time on it later. May swap to a different ts2 for fun... but moving on, now that we got that all tuned in, celebrate with some animal style fries!

Sounds good!
Here’s a few:
Stopped to help a broke down biker:
(Loose ignition switch wiring after a fresh build, his first test ride!)
Went on a fun downhill ride and enjoyed the view of my van from a half a mile away...(can you see the pop top?)
Then picked up hiker Dave, who was hiking the PCT. took him into town for a refuel and drove him back up (I was headed in for water and propane bottles for heat) and then dropped him off at the next spot up the road a ways for camp.
Got snow the next morning for Christmas! Got out on a few more roads (some of which were closed and had unlocked gates....
Came back to camp, and found out I had bumped my muffler on a turn around...
It slide right back into place
Went back to camp, and used some emergency supplies for some fresh water:
Settled in for the sunset and spent the holiday reading by the fire for a few hours. Great Christmas in my opinion.

😂 you’re right! that does! The pic of my bay looks more like a datson puppy taking a leak, but this one drops the wheel a tad more for the pull my finger effect.

bout time to fly home to Seattle for a random drop of and resupply on some parts! I fly into Seattle leaving LAX around 6am Thursday
the list includes:
~The idle Stabilizer that i found under the back seat last summer, but left at home
~sending of two sets of injectors for rebuild, on of while is for a customer down in SoCal.
~maybe grabbing my new bumper end caps for better pictures...
~hopefully coming back with some money for repairs needed...

Time Fly's! especially when you leave your watch on the plane!
I managed to get some time with the van to tweak and fiddle fart around.
Got the cold start valve dialed back in (removed and bypassed for testing) and checked my timing and such. Engine is still running a bit richer when cold then I would like but I can at least reliably make it start with minor tweaking prior to a stone cold elevated start (6k feet up above the sea)
in other news...the fridge works again, magically when you plug it in factory it all worked as it should  12v and 120v both work great, 12v only when the engine is running. my indicator panel is now working again too, which tells me the battery and water level. happy about that!
got the Oil temp gauge wired in, and ran the wire for the oil PSI as well, and will be putting the sender in as soon as this evening if things go smoothly getting back to Rialto.
also installed a set of hella Supertones. the horns were not getting good clean power and ground, and they work fine when bench tested, but i installed a relay and reliable power source, and now the horns TOOT nice and loud with a very slight touch of the button the new horns are nice and pretty, and in the factory location for now, and are significantly louder then factory, so i dont get pushed around by the people not watching as they merge into my lane here in SoCal.... now happy to be a nice instant 120 dB
