Looking to correct my bouncy speedo by replacing. Have replacement in hand, removed e-clip from existing cable, and now trying to pull from back side of wheel. Can't get it to budge!
Should this simply slip out? An if so, any ideas on what is impeding that?
Thanks! |

I have seen people use RTV to stop water from going around the cable. It will pull out just pull real hard. Might have to put a pair of Vice Grips on it and pull with them.

Will give that a try. Hadn't pulled the wheel, but guessing that would give me better access.
Thank you. |

It should easily pull out from the back of the spindle. There should be a rubber bushing that it goes through on the back of the spindle and not RTV but who knows who did what to it if you are not the original owner.
Pulling the dust cap may help but since the cable routes through the middle of the spindle I'm not sure how pulling the drum (or rotor) is going to help you.
BTW, my rubber bushing was missing when I first had to get into mine. A quick trip to my local hardware store (not the big box guys) yielded a nicely fitting replacement that I found in the lamp and lighting parts section of the store. _________________ '74 Thing
