Unless something has changed in the past couple of years, I couldn't find them either and had to make my own. _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.

I used the WW metal referenced above by mukluk. It has to be modified to allow the heater duct to pass through but fit well otherwise. A picture before welding of the left side but same idea.

This is the part you are looking for on their site. klokkerholm replacement panels are garbage, so if you can find this part from someone else, that would be your best bet. Use the entire part or cut off what you need.
The picture shows it upside down and from the back view.

the part you have circled in your post is definitely the cross member but if you need the part that goes over top of the cross member you need this:

somewhere around here was an amazing exploded diagram of how all these parts meet up. I'll have to see if I can find it. |

Yup that's the one! I Remember the original thread that was in and the guy restoring the beetle but couldn't remember the name of the thread... It's a shame that beetle sold. |

So is the green piece in the pic a separate piece from the cross member? Or is that crossmember repair piece? |

It's this piece in my included link. It attaches to the outside. When you purchase the crossmember it's already attached. When I did mine I bought the end cap , took the old one off and welded the new one on. It probably added an extra 4 hours of hassle to try and save a few bucks and I was sorry I didn't just buy the cross member. Photo below of when I did mine.

My son and are in the process of replacing the crossmember now.
Picture below is not from ours but gives an idea on the gap
First question where the chassis mounting bolt goes through the top crossmember piece then down through the splash panel inner crossmember piece there is approximately 5/16" of an inche gap between both panels.we are considering drilling the tack welds and moving the inner plate a little so that it will be almost flush. What we are finding is that if we bolt down as is the upper piece distorts as it is pulled down . Any one else run into that.only other idea is to weld in some metal between the two?
Second question
How is the heat tube connected as it goes through the crossmwmber.
Any tricks to getting it out before we tackle that?
Third question any torque spec on the 3 bolts on crossmember replacement?

This is the same car after mounting back on the chassis. I didn't notice it at the time but it appears there may be some minor distortion. Test fit and tighten the bolt before you paint.

Heater channel goes to -- not through -- the cross member.

That looks great.
Definentley testing over and over before fully installing.
I will maybe just shim up inside gap a little _________________ https://www.facebook.com/groups/2778888602388847/?ref=share

Hokie it looks like the metal compressed down about a 1/4" or so,does that sound about right? Also did you torque it to a certain spec? _________________ https://www.facebook.com/groups/2778888602388847/?ref=share
