What is the correct frame for a 1970 Beetle? I have my front plate held on with zip ties right now. Can you tell me the correct way to address this? |

Thanks for that link. So I’m guessing you need to drill holes in the bumper? |

Think you mean license plate bracket.
Here is a license plate frame:
Here is are license plate holders:
Lower bracket in this image is for the 1970s:
Since these brackets were a dealer installed item, and not at the factory, holes had to be drilled by the dealership employs. Dealer could buy the official VOA brackets made in the USA or buy ones off the FLAPS shelf or order from manufactures either far off or locally.
Personally worked for a place that made large fastener parts for buildings, bridges, etc.. They also made metal sign posts for a local real estate company. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

You’re right. I meant bracket but wrote frame. Sorry for the confusion . What options are there to attach a front plate without drilling? I have zip ties now but it never stays straight..... |

No worries! For a no drilled hole setup, you are going to have to fabricate or at least design such and have a shop make one for you.
Probably easiest way is to install a front bumper reinforcement bar and use that to drill to mount the license plate bracket to. From there have the bracket curve up and forward to mount the plate. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

If you don't mind 'offset' location (not precisely centerline) of your front plate, you could take this plate bracket, enlarge one of the mounting holes to allow you to put one of the bumper-to-bracket bolts through it to hold it in place- especially if you can make the hole square to allow the bumper bolt to hold it squarely in place and not just with squeezing force. Though I think if you simply torqued the bumper bolt down it would hold it straight.
This bracket (bottom one)
Remove one of the front facing bolts seen here, stick bolt through the enlarged bracket mounting hole and re-install the bumper bolt as per factory.

I've never seen those. How do those get mounted? And are they available in the US? _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

Those clamp/bite on the edge of metal. See the ends with the nut and bolt with teeth clamp. Not real good for the chrome. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |
