In episode 2 of Project Nazi: Blueprints for Evil (on American Heroes Channel, last night, "Hitler's Highways"), several minutes about KdF Wagens, and a visit with a guy who owns like 6 of these in Germany. The English historian got to drive one of them on the road. I'd say about 4 minutes on VWs.

Yep Cusser; a good episode with some wonderful period footage of the KdF Beetle. The British host was very cautious about driving the KdF; might not have realized how much skill is needed to smoothly drive a fully non-synchro ("crashbox") transmission.
Here's a thread on a recent event held by the KdF collector Dr. Hausmann. The garage in which the collection is housed is the same as in the TV program.

I thought the hood gap was still sloppy, despite all the work they did to improve it. You can fit a finger between the quarter panel and the hood. Unless he put in an inch-thick foam seal, all that work on a hood tray to keep water out of the frunk was for naught... water will still make its way down the Bermuda Triangles and eventually rot out the heater channels. |

Nice showing of imports in early 1960's Calif. L to R, front row:
- Volvo Amazon sedan
- ? (searched for Lancia, Fiat, Peugeot, Simca coupes but no matches)
- Fiat 1100 Sedan with front suicide doors (mid '50's?)
- Renault Dauphine
- Peugeot 403 Sedan (Convertible version was driven by Peter Falk all through the "Columbo" TV series) |

From the trailer for the upcoming movie "VICE" about Dick Cheney:
Clearly a Beetle, probably '64 or older. Not enough shown to really pin it down better.
I would have expected the real Cheney would have a hard time fitting into a Bug...

On TV this morning in Los Angeles...
Zuma is a service dog in training that the station is sponsoring and following. Among several photos of Zuma was this one of a holiday-decorated '64 convertible Bug:
Anyone here know the Bug or the event? |

Did the '64 vert have the WB crest? _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.”
