Butter fingers me dropped one of my carbs and broke the fuel inlet. No luck finding a new top hosing so instead of spending money on a new carb, I decided I might as well try to make it work.

Using a 3/4" round rasp in the drill press, I "machined" the broken area of the housing flat and centered on the inlet hole so I would have a flat area to drill. Using a 21/64" bit (size for 1/8" NPT tap) and drill press I drilled deep enough to tap it but not too deep. I found that I had to grind about 3/16" off the business end of my tap to get the tapered threads of the pipe tap deep enough.

It seems to work fine, no leaks. Sure saved me a bundle of cash. Wanted to share my experience so maybe it may help someone else out.

Thank you for the lead on the carb body. I don't know know about the interchangeability either. Mine is a 36. Going to stick with what I have for now and if it doesn't work out, I know where to look. Thanks again.

That is my add... LOL

If you want that part I might have it.

That is a late model large style fuel inlet top... Looks like an alfa style W the choke set-up. 36 and 40 are the same.

Use Locktite, not Teflon tape.
