I thought I'd start a thread for my 52 resto which has been slowly transforming. It is a complete number car found in a barn in Sweden & sitting there from 1978 last service.

Floor pan was in excellent condition only requiring a very small weld. Looks great powder coated along with running gear. |

Body shell coming together, back window section now back in after split was modernised to an oval back in the 70's. Oxide primer applied. |

The ash tray hole had a fuel gauge fitted which was a larger diameter. All the other hole have been welded up. The correct hole for the ashtray has been made now .

Hi Sled,
The corner front section was the worst. It has also had new Gerson heat exchangers. The floor pan, inner arches were very good. Not bad for a 52 beetle and some petrol area work. The guys at southcoastcustom&classic are doing a great job. |

Hi Martin,
I placed a wanted advert & a guy came back to me with an early oval almost complete front screen panel, which he obtained for a section on the other side. Bit of luck as I was looking for some time |

Nice! What is the story about adding the missing crotch coolers? |

When I got the car it was missing the drivers side crotch cooler as the panel has been replaced due to a accident but never replaced. The other side had to have a new panel due to where it was parked in the barn. A good replacement panel was sourced & the holes then cut out to take the crotch coolers. |

Oh, now I recognize the new panel in the last picture, as the holes for the fenders tube are missing, where the headlight harness will going through. So they did a good job on changing the panel regarding the seam at the A-pillar...
also very hard and nice done work on the roof panels by you! |

Hi guys
I need a bit of help. I have I think original seat & door panels but I'm not sure what it's called. I have included pictures of both plus new material which I am told is what I have. Can this be confirmed.
I am also unsure if I should keep the seat covers & door panels or replace with new. The headlining & carpet set will be new. Again I am unsure what's best to do
Thanks for your help
New material is it the same as on the seats & door panels

the new material you have there is NOT CORRECT, despite what people tell you. The material you want came in splits from April 1951 through end of production in late 52.
the correct material looks like this, and is available from Marcus Raeke (beetlekey here on the samba)
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2186919
also, I would use the original seats and door panels but thats because I prefer originality over reproduction.
