The Post Office Beetle, is it sitting higher than the normal Beetle?
If so perhaps Kübelwagen axles, etc. |

The first postwar Beetles were Type 51, which was the old 82E from the war, which was basically a Beetle body on a Kubelwagen chassis. As the forgings for the stock front spindles became available in 1946, the Type 51 was phased out in favor of the Type 11. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

I cleaned up this photo of the N.S.U. "dirty car" for allsidius, so I might as well post it here too.

Thanks, it is an amazing shot. How about sourcing a better version of this picture of the same car?

I think it is in the same street.. the bank in the background on second pict is where the first one is shot... _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

I believe you are right. The next challenge is to identify the street & town! |

Is that a sort of VW sign or a interlocking Double V ? What does that sign mean? _________________ Prosit!

Not sure of this is a split or oval. I always thought only the very early models could be ordered two toned, so posting it here.
Picture was taken in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego, late 1950s, at least as late as 1957 given the Chevy on the foreground is the newest car shown.

One thing we can determine, they are at a point between two towns in southern Italy. You can just make out the town names: Matera and Bernalda |
