Question: What colour should the coachline be on a German domestic market 1952 pearl grey standard be?

I lean towards sealing wax red but I'm not sure. Should the wheel rim centres be sealing wax red or another hue?

This question has bothered me for 20 years but now I have the actual car (my friend left it to me in his will) I want to get it right.

Thanks in advance.

have you seen this 51 standard for sale at bbt, they say it has been accurately restored and that the red wheel centres were a dealer mod. but I would say sealing wax red would be good for your car

Thanks for the link, that's interesting. Very nice car - the grey looks a bit on the light side.

Their coachline is much lower down the bodywork than mine had in the original owner's photos but worth looking at.

From the old b/w photos it looks like the wheel rim and coachline are the same shade of red but the hubcap logo is darker still.
