Thanks, bro! Having early phone dials on a bus has been a dream of mine for several years now. Really excited that it’s finally happening.

Thanks, Buddy! It’s my favorite, too! 🤗
Someone I don’t know saved pics of my bus and posted the before and after’s on Facebook and Instagram. Then I started getting all kinds of friend request from fellow bus enthusiast. I’m friends with the guy who shared it, it felt really good to have my work noticed. Feeling grateful for sure!

Thanks, Pal!! I’m huge Mango bus fan. I had one about 10 years ago that I traded for a Porsche. I really wish I wouldn’t of done that now. If I had to pick just one color as my favorite bus color. It’d be mango. The small hatch and those little tail lights, it’s just perfect! Thanks for reading my thread and chiming in. I’ll be following that mango build 😎

Well I got the sand blaster working again and pushed it back outside to do some blend blasting. Here’s what I came up with.

I mixed up a vinegar, salt and hydrogen solution in a spray bottle and started spraying the bare metal last night. It’s not rusting it as fast as I’d hoped for, but it’s begining to oxidize. Once it’s good and rusty again, I’m gonna do body work and use some filler to blend the welds a little better. Then I’m gonna tape off the surface rust and blend the paint in higher up the nose and doors. I just brushed the paint on to see how well it actually matched. I’m going to spray it when all the body work is done. Rear corners, rockers, apron and deck lid all need some work.

Thanks Dave! I read your thread this morning. I think you should paint your dash. It really will give it a better feel inside. I had a standard bus a few years ago and I kept it og for a while. Then one day I painted the bumpers, then I did the roof. Then I did the dash. It really made the bus look a lot nicer, even tho it was a patina survivor. But it’s your bus, but I think you’d like it if you did. Happy New Years!!

Thank, Dan!! Jen and Adriyanna did most the painting. I’m working on the motor. I also ordered all the material for the interior.

I got a chance to meet Jen and Dave today and see this bus in person, man it looks good. The work he has done and the stuff he has planned is top notch, when done it will definitely be one of those instantly recognized and known buses.

I am glad I had the chance to meet you guys, genuine nice people. If you are near Norwalk Ohio, do yourself a favor and arrange a visit, cool things are afoot in Norwalk!

I placed a custom order on some material. It’s called Ancient Buchanan Tartan. I searched all over for a plaid that would suit my needs and give a really fun vibe to compliment this bus. I think it’s a perfect fit. When that showed up, Jen began making the seat covers while I made custom seat frames out of 1/2” EMT and a bender. I used ply board in the center of the hoops and drilled from the sides to screw it down. Then I took a punch and countersunk the screw holes. Here’s what we came up with.

Once the frame was complete, I glued 3” firm foam to the seat bottom and back. Meanwhile Jen was working on the first cover.

Jen hard at work!!!

Now we’ve got one seat built. For a couple of upholstery armatures, I think it looks fantastic!! Now on to the next seat!!! Thanks for everyone’s support!

You may want to eliminate those screws into the edge grain of the plywood, that will be a very week point int he system. Weld some tabs to the underside of the frame and screw up through those into the bottom of the plywood. Much stronger in the long run.

Looking great, love the tartan!
