I've got a 69 doublecab with a 74 steering column and associated wiper switch. I purchased a correct 2 speed motor from busco, checked low speed and high speed which work great. BTW the wiring on the bus is all in great shape. Now......I'm trying to understand where the green wire (53e) physically goes from the wiper switch?

The green wire is the parking control wire. When grounded by the wiper position switch, it shorts the (disconnected) motor rotor, forcing it to instantly stop in the parked position. Without the wire connected, the wipers will stop wherever they are when the wiper switch is turned off, instead of parking.

There should be a 53e terminal on the wiper motor for the wire to connect to.

See columns 15-18 in the link or link

"Shorts" or opens the dedicated power supply to the motor during the park sequence?

Still feeling dumb, note wire/terminal designations. Does the green wire from the switch go to the ground terminal in the photo?

Well, both. When the wiper switch is turned off, the green wire continues to provide power to the motor until it reaches the park position, where it then removes that power and then shorts the motor rotor. Because the spinning wiper motor is acting like a generator at this point, shorting it causes it to instantly stop. All of this magic is controlled by the parking switch contacts riding on the drive gear inside the motor.

Definitely NOT! That looks like a ground terminal. I think the "31" on the motor is actually "31b". The lower terminal is "31".

There should be four wire connections to the motor switch plate. Doesn't look like that motor is the proper motor for your '74 column switch - closer to the original '69 motor: see this link. Note that the wires on your motor match the '69 schematic. Early wiper motors and switches were wired completely different from later wiper motors and switches. You can't intermix various year motors ans switches - they have to match.

Too early. See these schematics showing internal motor wiring for the two motor types (ignore my mods - they're for an added intermittent wipe feature). The upper is the '74 type; lower is the early type (your motor):

It's a great day! I learned something substantially new!
Motor brake! Who knew?
Thank-you.
