I know there is one hole for the door handle compared to 2. I can easily make the second cut out, but are there any other differences and is the existing hole the same as the 60-64 doors? Thanks _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

Ken - you rock! I have a stash of at least 8 or more sets of doors. All of my earlys are pretty rough and I have a buddy that is pretty sure he has some nice ice pick doors. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

I don't know how concerned you are with looking original so I will point out the other difference is the door stops in the front door jam. The 1960 down used a round rod and there are a couple large screws above and below the slot in the door jam for the rod. 1961-1964 have a flat strap door stop rod and no screws on either side of the door stop slot in the front jam. _________________

You will also want to check to be sure that the strikers are compatible with the latches.
You should be good to go if you reuse your original latches in the ice-pick doors. _________________ Jesucristo es mi Seņor y Salvador! |

When the door is closed.. ya don't see them..
Is this a restoration.. or merely a resurrection?
Yes .. the door check rods themselves are round 56 through 1961 model year.. if you dont want use the round rod style... with a little work.. the later flat version can be utilized in their place.
From 1956 the door pillar pin is the same size until the end.

Pre '52 check rods are flat steel
1953-61 check rods are round in shape.
1962-later are two pieces of fat steel welded together |
the list is not done yet.
53-55 check rods are longer than 56-61 check rods. Thus you can't use the later check rods in a ribbed door.
Also, the 53-55 rods have a curve to them.

Restoration...We are thinking that we may be able to salvage the original door, but keeping this option as a plan B _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.
