You'll likely find more information on the 356 Registry. I've seen a post or two where oil temps were reduced 20 degrees (fahrenheit). I've never seen anyone make a comment about head temps. Before I bought mine, I was told it was a "nice to have", not "need to have" item.
You might want to email the manufacturer. He has a 912, and regularly manufactures oil coolers for small aircraft. He was very responsive when I had questions.
Cheers,

This is what I use in my Denzel powered lowlight Ghia. She runs cool all the time! I install 'em in my Pre-A 1500cc engine builds also......
This model is made exclusively for the 25hp - 36hp - Porsche Pre-A 2pc. case design as it allows you to use the factory type oil cooler seals.
No more trying to figure out which oil cooler seals to use with those "other" aftermarket oil coolers!

And it's less expensive than the 356 cooler too (525 vs 595).

I emailed Airflow Systems and asked them what the differences are between the 356 and 36hp oil coolers. Here's what they said:
"The -03 has gasket bores ... match 36 hp case and 6 mm studs. The -01 has larger gasket bores and is drilled and tapped for 8 mm studs. Core is the same."

I contacted Brian 2 weeks ago via his website, as I was interested in buying this oil cooler, but the cooler is out of stock. I was wondering when it will be produced again, so I could order it.
does anyone know if he is going to do a new production run? Or does anyone has a new cooler which he/she is not going to use for a project? _________________ 1192CC WW okrasa

Many other Porsche vendors carry aluminum oil coolers.

Hello
The aluminum coolers are a step up in cooling compared to the stock cooler. What I DON`T like about these is, that they do make cyl 3/4 run warmer than usual under load due to the simple fact that this cooler can dissapate more heat than the stock steel cooler can. It does make for an easy and clean set up with improved cooling, and the elevated temps on cyl 3/4 is primarily when you use the power, but still.
Personally I prefer to install a small external cooler instead, so that you get as much heat out of the engine compartement as possible. |

Thank you Jou, that is also what I would like to do, however currently the coolers are out of stock. Do you know or are you able to check with Brian if these coolers will be in stock somewhere this year?
Thank you for your help! _________________ 1192CC WW okrasa

Does anyone have an Airflow systems oil cooler for sale?
I try to contact Brian but so far I did not get any response.
Or is there anyone who knows Brian and would be so kind to contact him with the question if these oil coolers will be in stock again?
I really would love to use one for my engine. _________________ 1192CC WW okrasa

I bought mine two years ago and they were great about replying to emails.
I'm not sure of who Brian is, I dealt with William Genevro. His contact info:

Thanks a lot for your help guys, really appreciated! The 356 coolers will fit 36hp isn't it? the studs for 356 is 8mm instead of 6mm for 36hp? Which 'modification' needs to be done to fit it?
Hopefully I will be in the USA (if they allow me to) as I have a training to follow for 3 weeks, starting end of July. I will be staying in Nevada. Therefore I am looking now for some parts to get my engine going again.
BTW, any cool VW stuff/collections in the Las Vegas area which are worth visiting? _________________ 1192CC WW okrasa

Maybe a bit late but Airflow Systems has both 356 and 36 hp coolers available in limited numbers. |
