very interesting info, Uli, thnx. Schneekoppe co is still in business, selling cereal food and the like.
wikipedia says Schneekoppe is in Poland. which it is, concerning the summit. but it is on the border of czech rp and Pol.
still lots of German names there. lots of history.

they had many music instrument manufacturers in that region. my absolutely favorite brand is Jolana from Hradec Kralove. I have 3x 1959 jolana Neoton electric Jazz guitars. also Framus and Hopf had their origins in Silesia.
