You pay the shipping, I can send you a "used" DMF for free.... I'm pretty sure I have one either stashed-back inside or certainly in the junk pile outside.

If it is outside, I can pressure wash to remove any debris.

DMFs have been around for years. Sure, some of them do come apart, break-up, get noisy, etc. However, in auto forums like this, your more likely to hear about that bad one opposed to all those that went beyond 300k miles with no problems.

Side note: FWIIW. the cracked-up OE Vanagon clutch disc in the pic I posted previously made one long road (almost 12k miles) pulling a camper. Also, my Engine (ECU) has a Stage 1 tune.

PM sent. Thanks!

I was also considering your point about hearing about them going bad.

It occurs to me that my 2002 Tdi Golf has 338,000 miles on it. I've owned it since 220,000 and haven't touched the clutch or had the engine out. I suppose that all could have been changed before I owned it, though I don't recall the seller mentioning that.

But whatever is in there, has been going at least 120,000 miles!

Yeah, I changed out the OE DFM in my 2000 Jetta TDI at 291k miles. It was fine. I shouldn't have changed it, but I was doing some PM including front suspension refresh... So, while I had that "window of opportunity" I dropped in a new DMF .............. actually, it was a DMF with 129k miles on it. It come on the TDI engine that I installed in my Van. I knew the history, so was good with that install. So, that DMF has close to 200k miles on it now. I suspect it will last another 125k miles which would take the car to about 500k miles. Since my son owns and uses it for a relay vehicle with his work, I doubt it will see another 125k miles in 15 years.
