Speedometer cable

I have a wide five disc brake kit for my 73 THING. The speedometer cable will not go thru the spindle to the dust cover. The hole is to small. Any ideas or if this is a known issue? (Empi)

You are using the stock 181 spindle-then the disc brakes should not be a factor? Run a wire through the spindle to make sure there is nothing blocking the hole.

Maybe it needs a new spindle grommet, the old one may have lost it's flexibility.

Make sure the sheath of the old cable isn't stuck up in the hole.
