Hi, I am looking to locate my dad's old Red 1966 Porsche 912. He sold it in the late 70's/early 80's in St. Louis, Missouri. I am currently in the process of finding the VIN number (I have reached out to his old insurance company and DMV).
Once I get the VIN, what is the best route to take? A few notes on the car - it had two moon roofs that the prior owner to him had cut in the top.
Thank you in advance. |

once you get the vin, you can run it through one of the on line sites that does cars before 1980 and see if it turns up. If so you will see what state it is in and. you can hire a state approved title clerk to run the number and find the owners name and address.
If the number will not turn up, you can then go on line to one of the places that advertises any title for any car and get one that can check all 50 states for the id number, to see if it turns up

Thank you for the help. I was able to locate the vin number, looks like its registered in Washington and went to auction (per the vin search) sometime last year. Still am unable to find the car online but still searching using the DOL.wa.gov website. Wish me luck - if anyone has any insight to try to find an auction house that may have sold it back in august in Washington (state) let me know. |

You can see if it is registered at www.912vin.com. Care to share the VIN? The owner may Google search his car’s history and bring up this as a link. |

Fast forward to the end. What happens if you find it? |
