Not to be outdone by the plastic water proofing access caps, I had the carbs gone through by Volkzbitz - Tim did a fantastic job!

Now Ill just need to finish working on my parts sheds and get back to this project. Wink

Just read the whole thread Jason. Amazing quality work and attention to detail. Don’t know how I’ve missed this thread before but it’s just awesome.

On the carbs when I bought the bus Wink Remember I was lucky to get a completely unmolested bus. As was from the dealer. The motor is still OG un-opened with 53k on it.

I was going to joke about some engine pressure. But then remembered that's another punch in the eye for a different 74 owner. Laughing

Sweet!! Moving is a pain but it looks like you found a great place to call home. Hope to see these buses in person someday (and meet the owner of course). Very Happy

I know that you'll probably get the reference, and that it'll be lost on many others. Laughing Not dead yet...gonna try a couple more things, then maybe rebuild the spare engine.

Things are still looking killer on your end. Can't wait to see it, when its done. Cool

Those are the correct original ones -- the sides are flat with ribs in them. Bus depot has some: http://www.busdepot.com/021129625b

Big turning point this weekend. Stuart came through big and played with the bus. He ended up connecting and fixing most electrical gremlins. The rest will have to wait for parts to be thrown at them. He also finished the passenger door and plumed the motor for gas to the newly rebuilt carbs. System check - go!

Big thanks to Stew to get this back on track.

Trade secret, exclusive. High visibility and simplicity dont match your bus art shirts though. Knowledge, confidence, reliability? Naw, just work crew. Wink

And thanks Smile

With white74westy pushing hard on his troubles and getting back on track, I started feeling the need to get off my ass and finish up my 74. Stuart had done a lot last weekend so now it was my turn to stop sandbagging.

I replumbed all the fuel line. Tank to pump to carbs and even a T for the gas heater. Done. Then I fixed the vac tube for the transmission - Automatic - hooked up the throttle cable and brake booster line. Connected the tank breather tubes with a new T. Filter in line for the gas.

The headlight and emergency switches are bunk and I'm waiting for a replacement. I have no idea what the hell happened to the wiper bracket and motor. So I had to get a good used one - waiting on all these items from our friend Ken at BusCo. Once all this is had then the dash can be buttoned up. Get the fuel system primed, go through the brakes and shes mostly done. Just little details after that Shocked Cool Laughing

One of the little details was finished today. My rear hatch had a funny squeak to it. I thought I needed to oil the hinges or something. Turned out to be the Tailgate Torsion Spring Rubber Damper/Spacer goodies. Mine were rock hard and were the source of the squeak. I was one of the lucky ones Jack_O_Trades - Brice sent the testers on. They work great and fixed an issue I wasnt sure I had till I replaced them.

Thanks Brice!
